Heath was fantastic, but just imagine what Daniel Day Lewis would have done….in my opinion Daniel is the best character actor the world has ever seen….and possibly of all time

Look my only problem with tdk Joker is the fact he wore face paint. so just in that he lost points at least in burton and adam west batman skin was white. just saying

I grew up watching all the different takes of the joker and my favourite until Heath Ledgers rendition was Jack Nicholson. Whilst still being quite young at the time it was entertaining for many reasons and very similar to the comic book version.

What Heath Ledger, Nolan and co have done is create a more believable Joker, basically an insane terrorist. Heaths portrayal was truly captivating and I as well as a number of my friends with a similar sense of humour found Heaths Joker absolutely hilarious at times. The humour was maybe understated to some but we were laughing out loud in the theatre.

I think the whole point of the Nolan-Ledger Joker is the irony, the fact that he is not a joker at all, far from being a gimmicky cartoon character who in being defeated still won. Loved it!!!

I like the comment “He was a dark, sinister, homicidal killer dressed as a clown”. This is the difference between him and the real Joker, he is just dressed as a clown, while the real Joker is a clown! A psycopath clown, with a disfigured face and a permanent grin on his face, which makes him absolutely creepy and scary. Ledger was great as a psichopath, but was not so so scary. I like the changes of mood in Jack Nicholson’s Joker, you really didn’t know what he was about to do, and the same for the animated series Joker! Heath Ledger’s Joker was always ready to do something bad, he wasn’t funny at all and totally predictable, and also absolutely hateful, you hate him from the first scene to the last one, while the real Joker turns from moments when he is funny and suddenly totally cruel! Jack Nicholson has been so far the best Joker on the big screen and the animated series chracter voiced by the brilliant Mark Hamill the truest and more unpredictable, even though he’s not the cruelest due to censorship, but watch “Mask of the Phantasm” and you will see how cruel could be without censorship!
